Statistics state that more than 1 in 6 people in the world don't have access to safe drinking water. That's almost a billion people on the planet.
With unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation said to be the cause of 80&percent; of all sickness and disease, and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. This indeed is a sour pill to swallow.
Many people in the developing nations, usually women and children, often have to walk more than three hours every day to fetch water that is likely to make them sick and the Leribe District situated in a remote village on the mountains of Lesotho is no exception.
Of the 42,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and a lack of basic sanitation, 90&percent; are children under 5 years old.
With such hair-raising statistics, through its partnership with The Rotary club of Ficksburg, Sešego Cares was able to identify the Leribe villagers to be ideal beneficiaries to the installation of a local borehole that is to be fully functional and handed over in Lesotho on 22 March 2010.

Sešego Cares erected a borehole and an irrigation system at Rachel's Home, in Lesotho. This support has assisted the orphanage to become self sufficient, over and above which Sešego Cares has built 1 classroom and equipped 2 classrooms with chairs and desks to the value of R30 000. View gallery
